How to use the Wordle solver

  1. Type your guess with the on-screen keyboard, or your own keyboard on a computer.
  2. Tap each tile until it matches Wordle: grey if the letter isn't in the answer, yellow if it's in the answer but somewhere else, green if it's in the right spot.
  3. Add your next guess with the return key, up to six guesses. The list of possible answers updates as you go.
  4. Pick a word from the list, or tap Use this guess to try the suggested one. Tap any word to see its meaning and whether it has been the answer.

The answer must have every green letter in place, every yellow letter somewhere other than where you tried it, and none of the grey letters. Repeated letters count too: one green E and one grey E means the answer has exactly one E.

Frequently asked questions

How does the Wordle solver work?

Type the guesses you made in Wordle and tap each tile until it shows the colour Wordle gave it. The solver removes every word that doesn't fit those colours and lists the rest, with likely answers first and the most useful next guess at the top.

How do I enter a repeated letter?

Enter the guess exactly as you played it. If Wordle shows one E green and a second E grey, the answer has exactly one E. The solver reads it the same way.

Why are some words listed first?

Wordle accepts about 14,900 guesses, but its answers come from a much shorter list of about 2,300 common words. Words on that list are shown first, then the rest, ordered by how common their letters are among the remaining words. See the past Wordle answers too.

Can I solve words with more or fewer than 5 letters?

Yes. Change Letters above the board to anything from 2 to 10, for Wordle variants. Those lengths use a general English dictionary.
