Trisquel 11, the latest release of the Trisquel project, has been announced by Rubén, its lead developer, during his live stream at the FSF’s LibrePlanet conference. Trisquel 11, codenamed Aramo, is based on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS but removes all non-free components to adhere to the 100% free software guidelines of the Free Software Foundation.

Trisquel 11 is equipped with Linux libre kernel 5.15 and the MATE 1.26 desktop environment, providing a reliable and efficient desktop experience.

Downloading the Trisquel 11 images

Trisquel 11 is available for download from the official Trisquel website, where you can find various other flavors of Trisquel, including Trisquel Mini (with LXDE), Triskel (With KDE Plasma), and Trisquel Sugar TOAST (with Sugar learning environment). Additionally, the download page offers net installation and source tarballs.

Upgarding to Trisquel 11

Upgrading to Trisquel 11 is a smooth process for those running Trisquel 10. Simply enter the following command in the terminal:

$ sudo do-release-upgrade
$ sudo do-release-upgrade -d
