Solus 4.3 released

Mr. Joshua Strobl has announced the release of Solus 4.3, another release in the Solus 4.x Fortitude series. Solus 4.3 brings various incremental updates over the previous release. There are multiple improvements and enhancements in all four flavors of Solus.

What’s new in Solus 4.3

The main highlights in Solus 4.3 releases are as follows.

Firefox 89.0.2

LibreOffice 7.1.4.2

Thunderbird 78.11.0

Budgie, GNOME, and MATE editions provide Rhythmbox for audio playback.

Budgie and GNOME Editions use GNOME MPV for the video playback.

MATE Edition uses VLC for the video playback.

Plasma ships with Elisa for audio playback and SMPlayer for video playback.

Linux kernel 5.13.1 enables support for a broader range of hardware.

In addition to the common changes across the distribution, Solus 4.3 also brings enhancements specific to each flavor.

What’s new in Solus 4.3 Budgie?

Budgie 10.5.3 fixes various issues related to Budgie panel applets, Raven, and window state tracking.

Various use experience improvements like Filter out audacious notifications to not clutter up Raven, configurable spacing in the status applet, default wallpaper, and much more.

What’s new in Solus 4.3 GNOME?

GNOME 40.2 - The latest release of GNOME with bug fixes.

Introduces Materia-dark instead of Plata-noir as the default GTK theme. The theme enables us to support GNOME Shell 40 and GTK4 while providing our users a similar look and feel to Plata.

Alongside this defaults change, Solus 4.3 GNOME Edition continues to ship the Impatience and Tray-Icons-Reloaded. These extensions enable us to reduce animation timings as well as support system trays out-of-the-box!

The latest MATE Desktop environment comes with various bug fixes.

What’s new in Solus 4.3 Plasma?

Solus 4.3 Plasma Edition ships with the latest Plasma Desktop 5.22.2, KDE Frameworks 5.83, Applications 21.04.2, and the backported patches for QT 5.15.2
