Canonical has announced the release of Ubuntu 23.04 Lunar Lobster. Ubuntu 23.04 is a regular release of Ubuntu with cutting-edge package updates. The release includes all official flavors of Ubuntu including Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Lubuntu, Ubuntu MATE and Ubuntu Unity. The Lunar Lobster release also, includes two new official flavors - Ubuntu Cinnamon and Edubuntu.

What’s new in Ubuntu 23.04 Lunar Lobster?

  • The new Ubuntu Installer - Ubuntu 23.04 introduces a brand new installer built in Flutter. The installer shares same core as the server installer and offers a consistent user experience.
  • Ubuntu 23.04 offers GNOME 44 which offers a refined user experience.
  • Ubuntu 23.04 has refreshed the system font to provide a smoother desktop experience.
  • Ubuntu 23.04 improves the snap experience. With the latest update to snapd, pending updates are now downloaded in the background and immediately applied when the application is closed. Users may also decide to hold the updates with the new snap feature.
  • The Steam snap now bundles core dependencies to run both new and older titles without the need to enable and manage additional PPAs.
  • Introduces two new official flavors - the Cinnamon Edition and Edubuntu.
