Pardus is a GNU/Linux distribution based on Debian. It is developed with the support of the Turkey government. The main objective of Pardus is to serve as an open-source platform for performing office activities, especially in Turkish Govt offices and related agencies.

The Pardus project was started by the Turkish National Research Institute of Electronics and Cryptology (UEKAE), a division under the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK).
